SDG Mapper

Map your business to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Answer a guided checklist built around BRSR’s own 9 NGRBC principles, or upload a report and let the EU Joint Research Centre’s actual SDG Mapper engine scan it. Either way, every match is traceable — never a black-box score.

17 goals, 169 targets, one shared vocabulary

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are the closest thing the world has to a common language for sustainability — investors, customers, and multilateral lenders all reference them. Most Indian companies already do work that touches several goals; they just don’t have it mapped or worded that way yet.

That’s the gap this tool closes: it takes what you already do — or what’s already written into a report you’ve filed — and shows exactly which goals and targets it aligns with, target by target.

SDG 1 — No PovertySDG 2 — Zero HungerSDG 3 — Good Health and Well-BeingSDG 4 — Quality EducationSDG 5 — Gender EqualitySDG 6 — Clean Water and SanitationSDG 7 — Affordable and Clean EnergySDG 8 — Decent Work and Economic GrowthSDG 9 — Industry, Innovation and InfrastructureSDG 10 — Reduced InequalitiesSDG 11 — Sustainable Cities and CommunitiesSDG 12 — Responsible Consumption and ProductionSDG 13 — Climate ActionSDG 14 — Life Below WaterSDG 15 — Life on LandSDG 16 — Peace, Justice and Strong InstitutionsSDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals

Anchored to BRSR, not raw UN policy language

India’s Ministry of Corporate Affairs has already published the one official bridge between the two — its National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct map each of BRSR’s 9 NGRBC principles to specific SDGs. This tool builds its guided checklist directly on that crosswalk, so you’re answering questions in language you already use for BRSR, not translating into EU policy-speak first.

The MCA’s own guidelines label this crosswalk “indicative,” not an audited mapping — the same caveat carries through into every result this tool produces.

How it works

01

Pick a starting point

Answer a guided checklist organized through BRSR's own 9 NGRBC principles — no UN policy vocabulary required. Or upload a report you already have.

02

Get mapped, transparently

The checklist traces every match back to the exact practice you selected. The upload mode sends your document's text to the EU JRC's live SDG Mapper API and returns real target-level relevance.

03

See it, don't just read it

Official UN goal colors and icons, a bar chart of prevalence, and a categorical bubble chart — switch either on or off depending on what you're presenting.

04

Save it and come back

Every mapping — checklist or upload — saves automatically to your account's SDG history, so a past result is never lost to a closed tab.

Transparent by design, not by accident

Neither path here is a black box.

Guided checklist

Every practice you select maps to specific, hand-verified SDG targets — not a scored guess. Your results page shows exactly which answer triggered each match, so you can defend the mapping to an auditor or investor, not just report a number.

Upload & scan

This mode calls the European Commission Joint Research Centre’s own live SDG Mapper API — the same engine behind know-sdgs.jrc.ec.europa.eu. It’s text-mining against an expert-curated, LLM-assisted keyword crosswalk — reviewed by EU policy analysts, not an opaque model trained to guess.

Either way, the result is indicative — a starting point for your sustainability narrative and BRSR disclosures, not a certified SDG alignment assessment. A registered assessor still has the final word on anything you file.

See where your company already stands

Takes a few minutes with the checklist, or upload a report you’ve already written and let the EU’s own engine do the reading.
